It's National Girlfriends Day!

Did you know there was even such a holiday? Well today is the official day for girlfriends! Girlfriends not only mean, the female significant other in a relationship but friends too! In the United States, August 1st marks the day girlfriends can get together and celebrate their special bond of friendship.

Girlfriends can be considered our sisters, mothers, classmates, or co-workers.

You might be wondering, who decided August 1st out of all the days in the year to be this specific holiday? Well, no one is quite sure! There is no concrete evidence of when or how this holiday started. Most likely, some greeting card company created this day to sell more cards.

Nonetheless! It's a great day to show the woman/women in your life how much you appreciate them. Some ideas in a relationship, you can treat your woman to a nice dinner or a special gift. Maybe some jewelry (wink wink) would be nice! And flowers too. You can never go wrong with flowers.

Women can plan a hang out with their girlfriends to spend some quality time together. Going out to eat is always a crowd pleaser! Try out that new restaurant you've been dying to go to or maybe even go shopping. Treat yo self!
